TECHNOLOGY
for tomorrow's digital cultural heritage
Being digital for European cultural institutions is not an option but a
reality. Despite the fact that only a small amount of the digital data produced
daily is of long-term value and thus subject to the attention of archives,
libraries and museums, the vast quantity of digital information creates a major
challenge for memory institutions.Today, cultural institutions are confronted
with a virtually endless amount of digital cultural information of all types and
formats, including, digital images, audio and video recordings, electronic text,
interactive and multimedia applications, as well as geographic information.
